Mission and Values

Who are we?

FCC is a Family of Servant Missionaries making disciples who make disciples.

What is our vision?

That every man, woman and child in Central Kentucky will have a daily encounter with Jesus in word and deed.

What is our mission?

We exist to make disciples of Jesus by being the family of God sent into the world on a daily basis.

We live out our Core Values by imitating Jesus as we grow in three relationships:

  • Love God

God is our first and greatest love. He is the hero of our story. We grow as disciples by continually reorienting our lives around Jesus and the gospel. This involves us each submitting to God’s Word and relying on God through prayer. We also get to celebrate this relationship by gathering weekly to worship Him.

  • Love the Family

When we become Christ-followers, we gain a whole new family! We love this family by committing to the hard work of authentic biblical community. This is messy! It means loving others above ourselves, and contributing to the church family - not simply being a consumer of religious goods and services. Growing together in community gives us the opportunity to encourage each other to love and good deeds.

  • Love your Neighbor

But we’re not made to keep it to ourselves. We believe everyone is made in the image of God, and we view them through that lens. As disciples, we are sent to show (and tell) everyone the Good News of God’s Kingdom. We believe we are blessed by God in order to be a blessing to everyone around us, and we do this best when we promote His grace and mercy in the places where we live, learn, work, and play.

Missional Communities

Missional Communities are where the majority of FCC’s mission and vision gets lived out. A Missional Community is a small group of people practicing the way of Jesus together as family in Woodford County and beyond. They regularly gather together and walk with each other in the everyday rhythms of life. Read more about Missional Communities here.

Sunday Morning Gatherings

At First Christian Church, we are led by a plurality of elders and gather weekly for expositional teaching, singing, prayer, communion, and giving. These weekly gatherings equip and encourage the whole church body with the Gospel.
